Recycled Art Glass Cabochons - Cabs - Glass Rounds - Glass Gems
Keeping it fun and simple.
Making glass cabochons is one of the easiest ways to recycle glass. All glass shares the same characteristics when being heated to desired temperatures. It beads or reclaims itself into what looks to be little cookies. It doesn't matter the shape of the piece you begin with.
There are a few things that we will discuss such as the coe (coefficient) of the glass to be used, ramping and annealing temperatures.
Making glass gems is such fun to do; if you have a small kiln you can make these relatively easy. Side fire pottery kilns are fine for this project. You can also use a top fire glass kiln - we use them both in making cabochons or glass gems - they're that easy to make.

The following picturial class on the next few pages shows examples of making glass gems, glass rounds
